¡Holaa, holaaa! Welcome to GW Catholics!
My name is Valeria Garaycoa and I am the Director of Finance.
I come from Guayaquil, Ecuador, where I developed my love for the Lord. After receiving my confirmation, a friend invited me to an Opus Dei center close to home. It was there that I saw a sparkle in people’s eyes—a reflection of the serenity and elation derived from their proximity to God. It motivated me to continuously deepen my faith, embracing regular formation and the sacraments. Eventually, this path led me to become a catechist.
About a year ago I moved to DC to pursue my bachelor’s degree in International Business. And I’m so happy that God has remained by my side. During my first week of college, I went to the student mass at St. Stephen’s and it connected me to the vibrant community at Newman. Newman feels like my home away from home. I’m so grateful that I have been able to find a group of people who support me and encourage me to grow personally and spiritually, and that makes me proud to be Catholic.
I’m so excited for what God brings us this school year! I hope I get to meet you and see you around at Newman or the GW campus!
