Hello! My name is Logan Earnest, and I’m the Grand Knight for GW’s Knights of Columbus Council. I was born and raised in the other Washington, in a town whose name only locals and their friends can actually pronounce: Puyallup (pyoo-all-up). Catholic all the way back to Ireland on my dad’s side, and third-generation Catholic on my mom’s, I was baptized at St. Aloysius Gonzaga in Spokane and catechized at St. Andrew’s in Sumner. Growing up in the shadow of Mt. Rainier and underneath the pine trees, I developed a love of nature and an awe of God’s Creation. While I came to GW to study criminal justice and go on to law school, God had different plans and I’m now a senior studying physics and preparing for doctoral studies in nuclear physics, my chosen research field. The mysteries of the universe are so fascinating, and it’s a great blessing to be able to see its intricacies firsthand.
When I found Newman my freshman year and began to experience all the wonderful things which I was offered, I had a burning desire to give back to a community which gave me so much. While I initially joined the Knights to be an altar server at the Sunday student Masses, I found myself in leadership last December after I was selected to take over for our outgoing Grand Knight. God blessed me with a patient community and plenty of help from the other Knights, and I’m excited to take everything I learned last year and apply it to make our service to DC and Newman even better. Whether I’m setting off the fire alarm in the chapel with incense, burning myself with oil flipping pancakes, or making the Newman basement smell like fried fish, I do my best to put my heart and soul into everything I do for GW Catholics, and I hope all you young men will join me in living to serve the Lord!
